Waiting For The Outrage

Posted on Tuesday 17 January 2006

The mayor of New Orleans is apparently a racist, not to mention how much he has in common with another unjustly famous whack job, Pat Robertson. Said Mr. Mayor yesterday:

“Surely God is mad at America. He sent us hurricane after hurricane after hurricane, and it’s destroyed and put stress on this country. Surely he doesn’t approve of us being in Iraq under false pretenses. But surely he is upset at black America also. We’re not taking care of ourselves. It’s time for us to come together. It’s time for us to rebuild New Orleans – the one that should be a chocolate New Orleans. This city will be a majority African American city. It’s the way God wants it to be. You can’t have New Orleans no other way. It wouldn’t be New Orleans.”

I’d love to know what Dr. King, with whom Mayor Nagin also admitted to having an imaginary conversation, would think about the mayor and his assertions.

Can you imagine the furor which would erupt if the governor of Mississippi, who, if you’ll recall, is a white Republican, invoked God’s will as he called for his state to be a ‘vanilla,’ populated by a majority of white people. Furor, hell! His career’d be over before the ink was dry on the first edition of the New York Times.

You are so right. This happens all the time. Some years back and I know I am dating myself here… Whitney Huston Said at the MTV awards that “she wanted to thank all the black folks out there”… can you imagine Phil Collins coming out and thanking white people? Such a double standard indeed. Is it time to vote yet?

Who’s Phil Collins again? 🙂 Whitney Huston lost her credibility when she married that idiot. Then she really lost it when she stayed married to him.

Yes, it’ll be time to vote soon.
