RIM Profile in WSJ

Posted on Wednesday 27 April 2005

The Wall Street Journal ran a nice profile of RIM on Monday. What’s unusual is that, unlike many accounts of the early days of technology companies, this one is surprisingly accurate.

“We used to have contests to see who could send e-mail from the strangest places,” Mr. [Bill] Frezza says. He sent one message from a voting booth as he cast his ballot for Ross Perot.

Well, Frezza isn’t the only one. Eric Arnum, who used to be the writer/editor of the EMMS (Electronic Mail and Micro Systems) newsletter, encouraged his readers to send wireless email from wild spots. I once took my HP 95 and Mobidem to Disney World and sent mail from Cinderella’s Castle. I tried to send one from inside Space Mountain but they wouldn’t let me take it into the ride. :-)

Thanks to Randy Reed for the heads up.
