As a certified (certifiable?) Mac geek I am compelled to note that 21 years ago today Apple announced the Mac using what has arguably become the most famous ad ever shown during the Super Bowl.
And as a very proud father, I am further compelled to note that The Bub was unveiled 20 years ago yesterday. Man I’m old.
[Update] I stand corrected, but only about the timing of Apple’s ad and announcement (see the ‘getting old’ comment above). I did, at least, not screw up my kid’s birthday. The ad actually aired on Sunday, January 22nd. The Mac itself was unveiled on Tuesday the 24th; here’s video of that event – the first known demonstration of Steve Jobs’ Reality Distortion Field.
