Both the Justice Department and FCC have given their approval to the Cingular-AT&T Wireless merger. The FCC gave its preliminary approval last week, Justice’s anti-trust division filed its approval yesterday, and this morning the FCC gave its formal nod.
The approvals contain certain conditions, mostly relating to the merged company divesting itself of certain assets including minority stakes in local cellular operators and spectrum in smaller markets. Expect PR from Cingular outlining plan for deal closure later.
[Later] That didn’t take long.
