Symbian and RIM announced that Symbian will add BlackBerry services to the operating system that Symbian produces for Series 80 mobile devices. Nokia’s 9500 Communicator is the most prominent device running this OS. The companies said that the new features will be available in Q1 2005. Nokia has already licensed BlackBerry features for several of its handsets but has yet to launch the devices in the US. RIM’s ongoing patent suit with NTP has been cited by most analysts when speculating about the delay.
