So I’ve been working to move my MT installation from Mac OS X (10.2.8) to another machine running 10.3.4. I’ve gotten everything working except the image manipulation that I use to create thumbnails of uploaded image files.

Movable Type supports ImageMagick inherently, but I couldn’t get it working on either 10.2.8 or 10.3.4. I could compile it and install it, and MT could find it, but it just wouldn’t work right. Then I checked the Web site of Marc Linyanage, who creates Mac OS X install packages of popular Unix software. I first learned about Marc’s work when I starting playing with MySQL a couple of years ago.

Sure enough, he built a fairly new version of ImageMagick, and it installed in a snap, and works perfectly, as you can see from this thumbnail. Thank you Marc!

(By the way, the picture is #17 at the Bay Hill Club in Orlando. It was taken by my friend Chris John, who somehow manages to get paid to take gorgeous pictures of gorgeous golf courses for a living.)
