Media reports (such as Reuters and The Washington Post) are surfacing that discussions between Cingular and ATTWS have gotten to the point where Cingular has apparently gotten commitment to fund the deal from its parents companies, SBC and BellSouth. A combined company would have 45M customers, surpassing the largest US cellular operator Verizon, which has 36M subscribers.
